A Creative Communion for tending our inner soil, in honour of Te Koanga | Spring Equinox
What if Spring isn’t asking you to bloom yet?
What if it’s asking you to notice what you are growing from?
At Sacred Waters Retreat, I’ll be guiding an in-person Creative Communion around the theme of WHENUA: Fertile Ground.
Together, we’ll explore two questions:
What is nourishing the life that is becoming through me?
What am I becoming through relationship with the ground that holds me?
Creative Communion is not an art class.
You do not need to know how to draw, paint, or make “good art.”
I’ll guide you through meditation and heart-centred attention, then into a period of intuitive making where you can let colour, movement, mark, texture and material respond to what you are feeling… without needing to know what the finished piece is supposed to become.
Sometimes the most powerful moment is simply looking down and thinking:
“I didn’t expect to make that.”
From there, I’ll gently guide you into my Witness Writing Practice, where you can listen more closely to what your creative piece may be revealing to you.
You are welcome whether you have made art your whole life or haven’t picked up a pencil in years. Suitable for all ages, bring the kids.
You are also welcome whatever your spiritual language or beliefs may be. I’ll be guiding from my own relationship with Nature, Spirit, creativity, ancestry and the living world… but you are never required to adopt mine.
Come as you are. There is nothing to prove.
Bring a pen, a notebook for Witness Writing, and any art materials you feel drawn to work with. Something to lean on if you like. A4 paper and simple colouring materials will also be available on site.
Creative Communion is free and included with your Sacred Waters Retreat ticket.
